Yeah, The Poison Sky, with the Sontarans. The clone, having been cut off from her power source, slowly dies right in front of Martha while lamenting that she (the clone) will never get to experience a mother's love or any of the wonders of life, all of which she's acutely aware of due to sharing Martha's memories. I

I definitely remember his name coming up during the speculation phase. He did end up getting to play Supes in animated form in Superman Unbound. Those movies have a habit of casting actors who would've been equally appropriate in live action at some point in their careers (eg. Lucy Lawless as Wonder Woman, Michael B.

Yeah, it's weird how bad Chiball's Who and Torchwood scripts are considering how good Broadchurch is. Maybe sci-fi just isn't his thing.

Well, Ten killed that alien warrior dude in The Christmas Invasion. And I think Nine was prepared to kill all the Daleks if Rose hadn't ("Just to finish you off, I'm going to wipe every stinking Dalek out of the sky"). He was also instrumental in the extinction of the vampires in Venice.

He does seem to have super-perception when the plot calls for it. Like in the gas mask zombies episode, he's able to sense the children's anguish in the walls, or that other time he was able to spot the evil Martha clone because one of her hair follicles was a millimeter too far to the left or whatever.

You kids have it so easy. In my day, to get our rocks off we had to look up the word "dictionary" in the dictionary. The extra effort made the payoff that much sweeter.

The show seems intent on trying to make him sympathetic again, but as I recall, he pretty much tried to get Chapman killed for not wanting to fuck him. There's no coming back from that.

Dawn French and Lenny Henry also appeared on The Young Ones, albeit in different episodes, and neither were part of the main cast, and I'm pretty sure they weren't yet married at the time.

Yeah, I prefer the show too, and my favourite parts are probably the smallest-scale stuff, ie. Lister and Rimmer's conversations in the sleeping quarters in the early episodes. Also, like you say, they mainly used the high concept sci-fi stuff to examine the characters - just look at how often they either encounter or

Did reading the books first diminish the show for you at all, do you think, given that the books contain a lot of the show's stories but in more detail and without the restraints of a 1980's UK TV budget? Better Than Life in particular stands out - in the books there's all this wild stuff about Rimmer owning half the

Well sure, Hopkins and Oldman give clearly better performances than Keanu, with more of that old, British actor gravitas, but how much of that is necessarily due to theater experience?

That's interesting. There's no way I could tell who's had stage training just from watching a movie. Can you think of any examples in film where two actors share a scene and it's clear that one has a theater background and the other doesn't?

I reckon a feature length film in the style of that Paperman short would be dope as heck.

So could I, but most folks just don't feel like reading, God bless 'em!

Speaking of Snoopy's voice, I wonder if he'll have one. Or at least a voiceover for his thoughts that we can hear but the other characters can't. Snoopy's inner monologue, especially during his fantasies, was probably the funniest thing in Peanuts and to my recollection it was never vocalized in the old animations.

Password. Hmm, password? How about "Guest".
[types in "Guest" and it works]
No way! It can't be. Jesus Christ, that is just… babytown frolics.

I'm not a psychopath, I'm a highly functioning sociopath.

River Song? River Song.

I'm with you there, and it makes it doubly painful that he makes that decision in honor of Tommy who was a useless character from day one and didn't seem like he should have any influence over anything.

That was one of the great things about Dredd. It wasn't an origin story (at least not for Dredd), there was no doomsday threat, it was just a routine drug bust that got out of hand and he had to shoot a few more perps than usual.
