My high school offered a class called “The Bible as Literature.” As an example of the type of course it was: We read both Creation stories in Genesis, then we read creation myths from around the world and had to write a compare/contrast paper.

Yeah, if there’s public money going to this, they damn well bettter include a primer on the many forms of Buddhism, Hinduism, Islam and all the other thousands of religions that represent our citizens and indigenous peoples.

I’m totally OK with offering an elective for Bible Study, so long as it’s studied alongside the Quran; I mean, surely there’s no reason why they couldn’t study a similar text for a better understanding!
