Agree on all counts. It’s a good point on Melancon. At the time, I didn’t mind using Treinen and Kelly for the righty matchups—both have been solid—but thinking back, it was vital to get out of that spot, and Melancon is the best pitcher in the bullpen.
I don’t have much of problem with any of the moves Dusty made. They just...didn’t work. You can second guess pulling Scherzer after the home run, and you can second guess not pinch hitting for him and going to one of the lefties to start the 7th—if Dusty did anything wrong, he got caught in the middle there.…
