My wackjob mom told me "HoooomoSEXUAL" marriage will open the doors to polygamist marriage - those MOOSlems love multiple wives - and mothers marrying their daughters to give them inheritance money!? What the actual fuck mom. At that point I hung up on her sorry ass, my hands trembling with RAGE! Their arguments…
Yeah, that was my thought too. And not to use this article as an excuse to pile on Christians, but that kind of thinking can make life really hard for some people. It can create a competitive atmosphere where people (especially women, for some reason?) feel unable to express their doubts and frustrations, and feel…
I'm sure for some people the happy tweets are just a facade, but I grew up going to Catholic schools and I know a lot of people who find genuine comfort in their faith. I don't go to church anymore and I have major issues with the hierarchy, but most of the people are just like the rest of us.
I've read a lot about this by people who grew up in very repressive fundamentalist communities - Jehova's Witnesses, Mormon's etc. - that there was a constant pressure to appear as happy as possible to the community and also to yourself.
Aww shucks!
I agree. I think if it was a filter, it is equally problematic. There are so many ways to use lighting in a shoot and have a beautiful photo - this isn't one for me. Skin comes in so many colors and shades, lighting is not a one and done kind of process in photography.
I honestly didn't think Bridesmaids was that funny the first time I saw it, either, but upon further viewings it gets funnier and funnier each time. Now I love it.
I doubt I'll see this but it's nice to see a Boston movie that's not about the Irish mob, Harvard or the Irish mob attending Harvard. ("Ben Affleck IS Prof. Whitey McGlynn in 'Crimson Mist.'")
I think, given their effort at changing their PR, they would be willing to concede house slippers.
WIN!
I believe in my right to Choos. Jimmy Choos.
Any shoes, because the GOP only wants us barefoot!
This! So much this. My sister and her hubby are like this with their son and he is a bundle of neuroses from being depended on to make all the choices about everything.
I think about that a LOT, as I want to spawn some time in the next couple of years and I've seen the way other people parent, and sometimes it makes me cringe.
I think there's a difference between child-centered in which the adult has the control and authority (there are boundaries and rules) but maintain that the child as an individual has thoughts and feelings as opposed to the "speak when spoken to, don't be seen or heard or i hit you" of the past. I think the…
There's definitely an idea that you don't interfere with other people's children, at least, that's the idea where I was raised.
Not to mention that her filibuster included the story of her own ectopic pregnancy and the abortion she had to save her life. Including the part where, if this law comes through, it will kill people in her situation.
Rick Perry is a completely unconscionable embarrassment to the Texas electorate. It's absolutely insane that a politician can say these sorts of things in public and not immediately suffer a violent and career ending backlash from their constituency. No prevarication about Perry's personal beliefs - he is a fucking…
