I have to agree with you. I really like 64, so I figured this new version would be great. Instead it kind of ended up feeling like a different game with Mario pasted in. It just never clicked with me, and even by gamecube standards it was kind of ugly. It made me leery to play the galaxy series, which was unwarranted

nah mate, the fact that the setting is fantasy doesn’t mean it has to be illogical. It needs a certain level internal consistency, and Mario offers traditionally so little in the way of story (as it should) that it really doesn’t matter.

Mario 64 gets some forgiveness for being literally one of the single-most groundbreaking games in history. It reshaped the entire industry by itself.

Super Mario Sunshine isn’t fun.  There, I summed up the “against” side :)

This is the first Pokemon game I don't feel like playing through. The plot is the worst of the entire series and Hop is a frustratingly awful character, and I still can't get past how the game looks. I appreciate the QoL changes but something is just missing from this game.

God, he looks so thin even in that picture. It’s hard to think about with the benefit of hindsight...

Yeah, having started playing during the pandemic, we’re in for a short sharp shock if they revert things back!

For all that I thought my school was going to be closed at the end of week one, we’re going into October still going strong. We had one staff member who had a positive test result two weeks ago, and a staff member who worked closely with her in the days prior self-isolate and test. No one else has gone home or tested

Isn’t Catwoman also a masked villain in The Dark Knight Rises?

Have you seen the movie? It’s a mess, but it’s watchable, and watching it is where you find out key plot points like “No, Catwoman wasn’t a fucking villain in The Dark Knight Rises.”

I know MegaBlastoise already touched on this, but I LOVE Kirlia’s evolutions. Gallade is a cool physical attacker with interesting typing, and Gardevoir got better imo after gaining the fairy typing. I havent’ kept up with the competitive scene at all, but those two are great addition to any story/PvE lineup.

Have you ever played a Dynasty Warriors game before?

All this does is just make me lament that we still don't have a TYD port/remaster on Switch. At least we got Sunshine though.

I lined up my first sequence of enemies from a tricky configuration, and the music swelled as I took them out in a flawless victory. For the first time in my life, a JRPG(?) battle system had made me feel genuinely smart.

It’s a well thought-out opinion and response. Truly, innovation is a good thing and developing new ideas and new methods to express those ideas is tantamount to making a strong series of games.

I respect this opinion, and I haven’t gotten very far into this game, but I just despise this combat system. And since a significant chunk of the game is the combat, it makes me hesitant to pick it up again.

But is it good BECAUSE it doesn’t replicate TTYD, or is it good IN SPITE of that?

Enh, I respect that you like the game and have no ill will to those that do, but it breaks my heart that my favorite game of all time will never get a true successor. I don’t feel entitled to it, and I don’t wanna devote my energy hating on the direction it’s going, but it still fucking sucks that after two amazing

Double Bombos All the Way! This is very good advice btw!

Oh shit.

Ronda's ugly Sandy Hook truther shit aside, her voice work was truly abysmal. Bridgette Wilson-Sampras is no master thespian but she would assuredly lap Ronda's stiff-ass deliveries.
