“Civility” is only expected of POC/LGBTQ/Marginalized Groups to get ahead. We’re expected to politely ask those in power to sit down and be quiet. “Why stoop to their level?” Because what we’re doing is the same thing as encouraging white supremacy and calling asylum seekers “cockroaches.”

The point you’re trying to make is weak at best, but nevertheless, I think you mean “the way it was used for centuries up until the 1970s.”

It’s so funny how GOPers never saw “Fuck Your Feelings” as a liability in 2016, but all of a sudden civility matters Oh So Much if Democrats are hoping to win elections in November.

Shut up, sea lion. Go “ACK-CHULLY” somewhere else.

Fade in, text card:

Michael Schur’s shows have a reputation for not only finding their footing in the second season, but thriving and blowing up their potential to cinema-scope size.

Why is it not “Daria & Jane.” Seriously, is this a mistake?? I could understand it, since “Jane Lane” and “Jodie Landon” share similar names and identical initials.... But if it’s not a pairing with Jane, I’m out.

Reddit is that way. Toodles!

Pro Tip: there are free texting services online that let you text from a website rather than using your personal cell number, if you’d rather not get that involved.

Congrats about your friend, I guess? There are people who see this movie and are triggered by it because they were sexually abused.

Then it’s too bad reviewers and movie-goers are acting like it IS a shining example of homosexual love. Again, if this were a man-girl coupling, the reaction would be different.

It would definitely be called out as predatory if a 24 year old guy were fucking a 17 year old girl. Especially now that those things are being more closely examined at the moment - “me too” has shown predatory sexuality is heartbreakingly common for women, even teenage girls. And THAT’S the thing that’s actually

No 17 year old is ever “wise beyond their years.” That’s a lie people tell themselves to justify something.

So... everyone’s just perfectly ok with the fact that this movie fulfills pretty much every gay-men-as-corrupters-of-youth stereotype. And that if they weren’t a same sex couple this probably wouldn’t be seen as so “heart-breakingly lovely” or lauded as a “coming of age” tale.

“Haranguing this 14-year-old girl on Twitter is an excellent use of my adult time and energy, and a decision that will both enrich my life and publicly demonstrate the superior intellect and rationality possessed by me and those who associate with me.”

Yes he should lose his job. Kinda like the women who complain to HR about this kinda behavior lose theirs.

Looks like Dwango didn’t expect Miyazaki’s opinion to be so [puts on sunglasses] unchained.

There are men (and sadly, too many women) who will scoff at the “unwanted hugs” part of this. “Oh it was just HUGS? Jeez, you would think he tried to rape someone.” But this is all part of a hostile work environment that takes that much more energy to navigate day in and day out. The fact that women had to come up

You better look up the definition again.
