If I had a nickel for every time the answer to why a Zelda character looked the way they do was, “I wanted them to be handsome”, I’d have two nickels! Which isn’t much, but it’s weird it happened twice.

I’m sceptical that’s a real leak. In a real leak, the audience would have been obnoxiously hooting and screaming like chimpanzees at 95% of the video.

It’s obviously very unlikely something like this wouldn’t be a result of a deliberately crafted and intentional feature, perhaps accidentally leaked into the wild this week.

It’s interesting that when you heard “mature” the first thing your mind went to was sex, while in Japan, it was violence. Culture really is fascinating!

I mean, it’s called “Scott Pilgrim Takes Off” not “Scott Pilgrim”. That might be a hint that this isn’t a straight adaptation, and that Scott Pilgrim is probably going to be leaving at some point in the story.

As the saying goes, “when you’re accustomed to privilege, equality feels like oppression”.

A neat idea, since this sorta thing is very much in the wheelhouse of what VR does differently from a typical game. I suspect it wouldn’t do much for me, as I have zero percent of my “identity” tied to my physical form. If it puts me into a female body, then cool, I’m in a female body I guess.

Wow. I figured since it was such a blatantly obvious broken animation that just needed a slight re-time to get it working again, and yet, has been in the game for decades at this point, that Valve were just uninterested in fixing it.

One of the best games ever made! I hope it holds up for someone new to the franchise, a lot of the stuff that HL2 pioneered is now standard in games of today.

I live in Japan, and it’s not quite as cut-and-dry as you’re making it out to be. Homosexuality actually has a LOOOONG history in Japanese culture:

To me, this sounds like the “In the West, we play as ourselves in games, but in Japan, you play as a character” culture clash rearing its head again. Western gamers expect to be able to fully-define the character they’re playing as, but that’s not how Japanese game designers roll.

That’s actually typically what Japanese companies do for high-demand products. You can’t pre-order, instead you enter a lottery for the chance to buy it. It sounds kinda silly, but it completely remove the “whoever can check-out the fastest” advantage that bots have.
