As is usually the case, this wouldn’t be black and white (pun very much intended). If they did use A.I image generation, it’s likely that artists are still involved, doing the usual artist things, as is what happened with the infamous “Secret Invasion” opening. For a simple promo Twitter image, A.I image generation wou

I’m talking about success of the Quest 2 as a VR headset, not the success of the Quest 2 compared to all gaming in general, you’re shifting the goalposts my friend. It doesn’t take a genius to know that 2.12% isn’t a big number, but it also doesn’t take a genius to know the comparison you made means that the Quest 2

I don’t know where you sourced your scarcastic notes, but according to this actual research paper, the most frequently downloaded genres of VR games are action, shooter, and simulation:

People talk about a lack of arms and legs in VR games being “immersion-breaking” but fucking this up and having the player’s arms and legs wildly flying around is FAR more immersion-breaking. I only know of a handful of VR games that have successfully pulled it off.

VR Chat has been, and continues to be, one of the most popular VR games on Steam, so yes, people are using “metaverse” type VR games. No one cares about Horizon Worlds though, it’s too late to the party and offers far less features.

It’s a tad more complicated than that. Second Life uses standard animation, you make animations of the character standing and walking , it’s no more complicated than any other kind of animation.

I’m baffled as to why people keep calling this an “anime”. It doesn’t use the artstyle people typically think of that makes them call shows like Avatar an anime, so what is the reason? Because the animation studio is Japanese? Japanese studios did the animation for tons of American cartoons back in the 90s, but we

You’d prefer that scientists not continue researching into what they’ve already researched, and just stick with the initial conclusion?

It seems to me like a lot of parents think it’s still post-WWII, where having children is the best thing you can do for the country, so everyone else in society will be more than happy to accommodate you and your child in any way.

One imagines it will be like those bootleg game consoles from China that have a large, fancy-looking case with a single, tiny circuit board inside.

Nearly 20 million Quest 2s have been sold, and it’s also represents 41% of the total SteamVR userbase:

It seems a bit weird to use Miiverse as the main inspiration when the game is supposed to take place in 2003, but Miiverse didn’t come out until 2012. Also the Apple II style display sorta pre-dates 2003 by a number of decades. Pick a lane already, game!

This is why people say the left eats itself.

Valve isn’t making this, it’s being made by fans and nvidia.

There’s more to ray-tracing than just “glowy”. Light simulation could be a massive boon to a game like HL2, since a lot of the scenes are lit via natural light. Ray-tracing would mean this light would bounce around the scene and light it in a much more realistic way.

But that brings me to things that have changed. Persona 3 Reload has an entirely new voice cast, and while that deeply wounded me as a long-time fan of those original actors, I’m happy to say the new crew understands the assignment.

Eh, height calibration for VR games isn’t exactly news. Most games will either have you calibrate when the game starts, or let you calibrate in the settings menu. But yes, if you jumped into a game that had just been calibrated for a tall player, the game would be the wrong scale for a shorter player.

The idea of a re-release of a classic console with modern video connectors that can still run your old games sounded VERY intergang, but all intrigue faded as soon as I learned it was emulated. If the console is simply dumping the ROM on the cart and running it in an emulator, there’s really no difference from just

My theory is this is because Chinese studios are often hired to do grunt-work on game assets for foreign studios, but rarely get the chance to create their own content. End result is they’re REALLY good at making great-looking assets, but not so great at coming up with designs and concepts.
