I’d argue that racing has been, is, and always will be dangerous. Is it better, orders of magnitude yes, but even today we’re still arguing for instance the open cockpit design of F1 vs a Halo vs Windshield vs fully closed. As long as a human is in the vehicle, or even near the track, racing will always be dangerous.

There are very few problems that cannot be fixed with the proper application of leverage.

As well as increasing the consistency, which I’d hazard is more important with such a finicky system. Cars able to get ~1.5g of downforce at low speed around a hairpin or other turns are just flabbergasting to me though... I’m excited to see what kind of times this new Ariel can put down.

IIRC the skirts the 2J used were actually inversely linked to the suspension, that way as the suspension moved one way, the skirt would extend or retract in the opposite direction, in order to correctly maintain vacuum. Honestly, I’m pretty impressed the airplane won. Not only does the Porsche have a higher power to weight ratio, but it doesn’t need to hold itself in the air, and pushing off the ground via tires is much more efficient than pushing off the air with propellers. I guess a 10g turn is just going to do that though.

I guess it’s one that has three independently programmable buttons. They can even be programmed to work for certain gates and such depending on the technology.
