I think the dems should not abandon their base. Focus on income inequality AND social issues. Talk about voter suppression, gerrymandering and abortion. Don’t be afraid of it. Don’t take the black vote for granted. Excite women and POC to get out the vote.

Gender and racial issues tend to take a backseat to economic issues. It’s seen as a distraction. I ain’t about to throw them a parade simply because they aren’t outright attacking those issues like the other side. (Btw I’m agreeing with you. My ire is directed at them, not you).

He might have been able to squeak it out by GOTV of minorities who didn’t come out as strongly for Hillary, but he still would have had to contend with (1) the structural barriers that went up against minority voters in the wake of Shelby v. Holder and (2) the fact that when he won, he motivated a lot of white voters

Oh horse shit. Republicans were frothing at the mouth to get one of their candidates as the president, so much so that they refused to denounce Trump. It’s pretty rare that any party is able to hold the presidency for 3 terms in a row so Hilary faced an uphill battle. So many people were pissed about healthcare they

To echo others...I heard she was following the polls very closely, and ignored what those I’m the ground said. Obama’s strategy was apparently also to follow the polls very precisely. It worked for his campaign but as we all know the polls weren’t accurate for this election year.

Because most strategists were saying that she should reinforce her states and it was a waste to go to places that you are going to lose anyway. David Axelrod was always puzzled by that move.

I didn’t say Bernie was the answer, either. If it had been him, we’d have heard SOCIALIST SOCIALIST SOCIALIST SOCIALIST SOCIALIST SOCIALIST non-stop until election day.

To be fair, she was following the polls which said the Rust Belt was safe and AZ might happen. If yiu’re thinking it’s going to be a blowout (which most people thought would happen up until the final few weeks) why not go for AZ?

This. HRC is just not a revolutionary. If she were a man that could have been her saving grace against Trump, but we’ll never know. She is traditional politician and ran a traditional campaign against a circus. Trump challenged everything we take for granted.

We all enjoyed our little schadenfreude when we saw Ted Cruz and Mitt Romney kissing the ring because they’re odious people, but they get what democrats don’t: you can’t do shit if you don’t have power, and voting is an expression of gaining or retaining power, not of our deeper most innermost thoughts and wishes or a

Exactly. I wonder if it wasn’t so much feeling like she had it clinched (though I can’t blame her, all the number suggested she should win even despite having a weak firewall of secure states) as feeling like she had to play it safe in order to starve the media of perceived flaws. I mean, even that ended up with

She didn’t run a “horrid” campaign, she ran a normal campaign in a totally abnormal political climate, and was further hamstrung by the fact that (1) there were many effective responses to Trump’s bullshit that weren’t available to her because she is a woman, (2) the media was obsessed with poring over every detail of

Beatable? Tell that to all the Republican front-runners he steamrolled over to get the nomination.

I know, right? If only the smartest, most qualified and capable person won!

I believe this, a lot of people believe this. However, I think Obama publicly stating this in an interview is a bit...unbecoming of a departing president.

Yes, this pales in comparison to the garbage Trump pumps out on a weekly basis, but I think it’s important that the Dems “go high.”

I essentially DID vote for a third Obama term....much of Clinton’s platform was to continue in the Obama path. He’s been a good president. I wanted more of that.

Can’t wait for the democrats to spend the next four years having their dick measuring contest and talking about how they totally could have beat Trump unlike that stupid ol’ girl that no one likes anyway instead of actually recognizing that Trump won because of a combination of the deep well of racist/classist/sexist

I think he’s just an overall moron.

Someone get our (gag) President Elect off of fucking twitter for crying out loud. He is an embarrassment.

Learn from our mistake, Pakistan.
