A reminder, thru Brooklyn Public Library’s Books Unbanned programme “[f]or a limited time, individuals ages 13-21 can apply for a free BPL eCard, providing access to our full eBook collection as well as our learning databases.”

Indeed.  They should all walk out, en masse.  Even the ones who’s classes are not about reading.

“Pro-life” that doesn’t take the expectant mother’s life (ESPECIALLY if underage) into consideration is fucking bullshit...

Yes. The clean video that the BEEB allowed.

See: O’Reilly, Bill & Fox.

Methinks the folks who named it watched this at least once:

While not specifically MTV-related, please let’s don’t forget Frankie Goes to Hollywood’s Relax video being banned in the UK (in 84 or 85 IIRC). And yes, the banning did boost it in the charts).

Can we please get Sam Smith & Lil Nas X to do a collaboration and make the appropriately raunchy video just so we can watch the aforementioned ‘haters’ really lose their shit? Please, Satan, erm Santa, please!

I get the incredulity at a gun range w/ a liquor license. It’s the same incredulity I have at the axe throwing bars that’ve popped up all around NYC (mostly in hipster-ish Brooklyn neighbourhoods like Williamsburg or Greenpoint). For either, who thought “hmmm, let’s combine drunkenness with deadly equipment”?

Seems ‘Students for Life’ don’t have sufficient time for actual, you know, learning.

It really is. My first thought was “I want that hat! And the gloves too.”

I was 23 when I met my late husband; he was 38. We became instant best friends. We started dating two years later and were married two years after that. We were married for 16 years when he did he rudest thing a person can possibly do to someone who loves them: he died. We would, I am certain, still be married today

Wifey.

How does California give us both the amazing Rep Porter and the very-much-not-amazing McCarthy?

I had almost the same thoughts as you posted, especially about the recoil. Which was -in my head- a saving grace: recoil >>> lessened likelihood of continued shooting >>> lessened likelihood of the ‘extra tragic’ need for police to shoot him.

From all the news pieces I’ve read/heard about this, I’m under the impression that the boy fired one shot. I wonder what would have happened were he to have continued shooting. Would the police have been able to shoot him to get him to stop?

Agreed. 100%.

Agreed; the spuds and carrots do look lovely. And the puds too. (Were I attending this Sunday roast, I’d leave the beef for you.)

It’s kind of tough to hinder a thing that’s just not there.

Take em all:
