Big hugs to you as well. Your cape simile is lovely.

I generally dislike Christmas Carols (rather, I can’t stand them when they’re “pop-ified”). These three tunes are entirely not such. Thanks for the recs.
Starred; I hope it brings you out of the greys. Welcome back to SNS!
Since sometime in the late 70s/early 80s Jett has lived (or maintained a home) in Long Beach, NY. In the 80s I would hang out there from time to time. I recall seeing her just being Joan, resident of LB. I can 100% understand how she would bring you to such a realisation.
So, two of this year’s Grammy Noms for Best Rock Album are two of my favourite new(-ish) artists: Fontaines D.C. (for A Hero’s Death) and Michael Kiwanuka (for Kiwanuka, which won this year’s Mercury Prize. If you haven’t got to them yet, skip over all the rest and give ’em each a try. There’s another band I thought…
Way back in the mid 90s I saw Joan Osbourne, just as she was starting to chart, in this tiny club out on the East End of Long Island. Ruby Waters reminds me of Osbourne at that time. Thanks for the rec!
Hugs to you; So sorry you’re going through all this crap.
💖all the cats, but really especially 💖💖 Intellectual Bruce.
Good God that bread looks good.
I don’t have a narcissist in my life and nor do I watch Dr Ramani. Just wanted to say a huge CONGRATS on not letting her win!! Big ups to you!
Music recs thread. What are y’all listening to these days?
Gene Roddenberry’s estate really needs to get about suing for plagiarism.
Oh, I’ll need to add that to my auto-text reply above.
There’s a club I love out on the East End of Long Island. Tiny place. Great live music. The mix of bands that play there is awesome: from local musicians to international stars and all in between. They’ve been running online shows the past five weeks (tonight’s is the finale) of all local musicians. I miss that place…
Add Dr. John, upon whom Dr. Teeth was based.
Because we’re passed pumpkin spice season?
Whenever I’ve been met with the ‘do your own research’ reply, I say “no, you’ve made your thesis statement, now prove it to me, CITE YOUR WORK”. Almost always get back blank stares at that.
Instagram is essentially just for photos, so whatever text (or ‘caption’) would have to accompany a photo.
I’m with you. I miss watching live music so much. I have a ton of musician friends and it’s killing me seeing their lifeblood dry up. Same for the people I know who own the small - medium sized clubs they’d play in. I posted this image in response to another post above and it really says it all.
In addition to standing in a rock club/hall:
