You are right, when I noticed something was amiss, I would have had the car repaired. I could do it myself, but if it is an involved procedure requiring more than basic tools, nope, not for me. Spending an hour of labor time to have a car fixed now and then is not terrible. I diagnosed the fintail’s starting issue via

The data in your dickish (ironic) reply wasn’t the problem I inquired about.

You should learn to speak (post) only when spoken to. If I wanted your opinion, I would have said “hey fucktard, I need your help” ;)

“legal loophole.”

If it’s legal, what’s the problem? Loopholes exist.

That gauge font could be from 1948. Along with most of the vehicle. I guess if one is too lazy or busy to import it yourself, why not...offer a bit less though.

“ Just not one that will be a 3 Series-fighting semi-autonomous super sedan.”

I suppose putting 100K into this might be less of a disaster than doing a concours restoration on a Mark IX or something. You’d be spending 100K to get maybe 70K, rather than 100K to get 40K. A shop who can expense it right might be able to do something. Laying down what will probably be like 15K for the neglected car

But the real money is in a high grade car from a known shop. It’ll still cost more than the car is worth, and I don’t know if final run XK120s have explosive appreciation potential. One can go for it if they love the car (which is why they should be restoring it to begin with), but this isn’t a good way to flip and

You’ll spend 50% more than it’ll be worth, but why not.

And then you spend 150K to have a 100K car.

The fancy “LX” trim line.

Yes, that first wheel, gah, I can’t stand it. It’s really a dark ages of the mid oughts kind of memory to me. Wouldn’t surprise me if it is the same structure as the newer variant you posted.

Still, they barely tried. They could have differentiated it more, rather than using effectively the same wheel (the thing directly in front of the driver, in eyesight at all times) on cars with a 10x price differential. It seems really lazy to me.

Yeah, but they barely tried. This was an accountant’s dream.

Leather covered 2x4s, Tesla luxury :)

It could be worse. 1990s Aston Martins had in effect the same steering wheel you’d find in a mid 90s Taurus:

Endless funding can work wonders :)

I don’t believe there are any real journalists on Jalopnik or any of its sub blogs. Entertainers, sure, but really, bloggers, some of them more able to accept it than others. If you want real motoring news and analysis, this aint the place. It’s fun, or it was fun, who knows if it will survive long enough to be fun

How’s that really a change?
