I have some alternate names for some of these new modes.

The best change by far is making Quickplay “Competitive-lite,” with the same basic rules minus the stakes of watching your rank go down. It allows a more serious attempt at winning while also removing the wrist-slitting frustration that comes with experimenting and losing.

No more pokestop reloading items while the wife is driving. . . . . Wow they keep killing this fucking game to the ground!

If this were a console game it’d be inexcusable (No Man’s Sky). I know it’s the mobile market but that’s kind of my point, the standards should be higher than this if they want to be taken seriously.

That’s clearly the game’s fault OH WAIT NO it’s the stupid fucks who play it while driving.

As a fellow Canadian, I literally felt the same way back in July when they started enforcing soft speed limits.

Par for the course with this game and with Niantic’s communication skills in general.

The intent of the update is fine, but the fact that this wasn’t disclosed at all is super shady to me.

“That, and it was always meant to be a game played while walking...”

To be frank, Niantic has been pushing updates that hurt the game since its inception. No rooted devices, no map, no radar...

Cruising around on a bike with Pokemon Go sounds pretty darn dangerous, and not just to you either; crash into some old lady and you may have another person’s death on your conscience.

I get where they are coming from, but this is definitely gonna hurt the game, a lot. In Japan you could argue that a large portion (if not the majority) of people only play those games during commute.

Hell, no. Do the whole trilogy or gtfo!

I peruse Kotaku throughout the day and can’t help but notice when something I’m reading is erroneous. For example: your lack of apostrophe in “writer’s.”

“Despite being the platonic ideal of a big budget, blockbuster video games”

Last paragraph: “Remasterd.”

I have zero problems with this. Hero stacking is obnoxious. Sure there are valid strategies but lets be honest, most of the time, multiples of the same hero are either troll picks or people that refuse to be a team player.

It has been 9 years since I deployed to Iraq. I spent 15 months there doing convoy recovery. Since I got back I’ve dealt with at times crippling PTSD, and about three years ago my therapist recommended I try playing a more realistic war game, as it apparently helps many people (though honestly I don’t know how). Witcher 3 is a fantastic game deserving of its accolades, but many of its proponents seem to be blind to its weaknesses. It is vastly more on-rails than Skyrim, with the overworld map broken up into zones, 95% of NPCs and interiors/exteriors not able to be interacted with, and Geralt’s cringey (I suppose on purpose)
