I think its just the american fans of media in general. There’s such a massive sense of entitlement over how something should have been different instead of taking something for what it was. Creative freedom is definitely under attack over here and everyone’s a critic.

american anime fans have such a sense of entitlement (maybe it’s just a vocal minority) but sometimes i use a streaming site to find older or rare anime not on crunchy / funi and the complaints i see from people pirating anime are... not encouraging.
