FWIW, I didn't have an email address associated with my account. When I tried to reset my password on the 12th it failed. I added an email address to my account, retried the password reset and it worked.

@nvleafs: I was thinking the same thing. The iOS4.2 update also includes new iPhone4-only ringtones. Also consider that jailbreakers have multitasking on pre-3GS even though Steve has said the older processor just can't handle it. My take is that Steve just really, really wants you to fork over another $200.
