@Thut: Well said. It's funny how much 'character' the characters in Aliens have versus Cameron's much later Avatar. Looking back, I can't say I really remember or cared for the fate of anyone, except for Colonel Lang, the only person who seemed to have a strong personality.

@Smells_Homeless: I think that green looks good on that car, pretty rare shade. Some white stripes could look good too? Hood snouts need to go though.

Best quote from the NYT story: "The whole system is designed to miss things."

In before paranoid, ignorant, hearsay-enabled rant about how seatbelts are an invention of 'the man' and explanation as to how you will always be thrown clear of the vehicle in an accident and land in a pillow factory unscathed.

@bacon117: Toyota natural acceleration retardant.

@Lost in the age of Aerostar: But the 500 has been in production for a while. Federalizing involves some bumper re-engineering and emissions work but the bulk of the car is un-touched.

@Tyson: Oh, so your beef is with the change over to a unibody? I would argue that most Explorer owners use the Explorer as a wagon and not as a ute. People that really need tow/haul and work capability can just get an Expedition.

@Tyson: The name has a huge amount of cachet... the Explorer was sort of the first of the 'SUV is the new Impala' generation, despite it's general shittiness. However, I agree with your sentiment - Ford has too many crossover-ute-things now.

@CABEZAGRANDE: You're right; it does not. However, the truck is a servant of two masters - the extra cost has gone into outright power output, which nebulously enhances the offroad capability, but if the truck is going to be used exclusively on the street (as I'm willing to bet all 100 will be), then it suffers from

Oh good, an awesome off-road bomber gets re-purposed for street and strip duty. Keep all the weight of all the off-road tough components too.

COCK

The angry-eyes headlights don't mesh very well with "Hey! I'm friendly!" Fiat 500-esque roofline.

NEWSFLASH: a cheap, FWD, small, light car with vague electric assisted steering sold to people who hate driving wanders on the highway.

@ninjacoco: *claps* Thanks for being a cool gal.

@alfasud: If she rounded off the corners of a hexagonal bolt head with an air wrench, he wouldn't dismiss her from the race crew. Ferrum is compassionate, and a gentleman.

I drive a Honda Fit. I'm hoping the small, extremely practical and humble car advertises my immense package subtly, but noticeably.

Ol' Chaplin 'stache loved his crazy superweapons. If this was successful, an even larger version was planned called 'Rat'!
