With Google products I feel like people are slow to adopt, worried that it will be just another dead product. The slow adoption leads to bad numbers, causing it to be shut down.
Pat McAfee on his podcast talked about how that failed fake punt came about and the story is hilarious.
A lady in front of us was doing some online shopping during the game and we asked her if she could find a linebacker that could be delivered before the 4th quarter started.
“This is exactly how you win a game, just run every play. Keep ‘em guessing because they’re gonna expect you to throw it eventually, but they’ll be wrong.”
God, I know it took a hundred animators thousands of hours of work to animate that, but it still looks lazy. As if they said, “well, they can’t do any cartoony stuff, so, just, I dunno, wandering down a path in a jungle?”

To make things a little more clear: on NES Tetris, pieces almost instantly get stuck to the stack. You don’t have the long grace period of more recent Tetris games that allow you to slide the piece around on the stack. Also, the horizontal speed of the pieces when you hold a direction is very poor compared to the…
