Instead of dredging up Doug’s corpse, I think we should move forward with you Mr. McParland. I nominate you to buy one of these and report how it works out.

This isn’t just any ‘big dinner’, it’s a dinner in front of photographers with Mark Zuckerberg. Toughen up and plan on doing the dishes. It’s a one course meal for 8 people.
I just received such a set from my recently deceased grandmother. Spode Chinese Rose. Not touched any time I was ever there for dinner, but apparently I said I liked them when I was 7, so here we are. I’m not sure if I’ll ever use them because I love my “fancy” Portmeirion Botanic pattern way more.
My grandmother, who died last year at age 90, had a cabinet full of gorgeous china. I admired it once and asked if she ever used it, and she made a face and said, “You can’t put it in the dishwasher.”
To be fair, this is a weird old person thing, not a L/R, Rep/Dem thing. My grandparents did the same thing, plenty of my friends’ parents/grandparents did it, etc.
If you’re looking for people that break out the fine china for guests then the folks wearing baseball caps at the dinner table are not where you start.
Hey, when you show up like an unannounced dickhead, you get what you get.
Does that look like a family with a table setting for 12?
“ Them’s for lookin, not eatin”
I love how even Mark Zuckerberg was not important enough for them to open the China cabinet and use the good setting. Plastic plates, cups and cutlery for guests... why am I not surprised these folks voted for Trump?
I’ve yet to pay $7700 for an entire car, much less a headlight cluster.
Also not a brown diesel manual Miata wagon. :)
He mortgaged his house for a car. A car he then rented to hoons as a track day car as well as exotic rental.
CP, it has been in an accident, also Italian, also rental. CP all over
MI’s governors and state house have been mostly Republicans and they are the ones who set the tax rates and spending priorities for the state.
This issue is not about partisan politics and trying to boil it down to a bullshit talking point like Porthos does is a disservice to the people of Flint who are affected by…
Governor Rick Snyder is a republican.
Let this be a lesson for towns that rely on a single employer or industry. The risks are too high since the fortunes of the town relies on the financial health of one company or revenue stream. Every healthy city needs a diverse employer base.
Go drink some Flint water you uninformed troll.
WTF are you talking about? What Democrat?
Are you really going to try to lay this at the feet of Obama? Check some of the dates in this story, which I doubt you even bothered to read.
Excellent piece. Thanks for continuing to shine a light on the issues in Flint, it long ago got lost in the all consuming 24 hour media cycle.
Flint is so unique in the ties it has to the auto industry and most people outside of Michigan don’t quite understand how intertwined GM and Flint were/are.
