A friend’s 12 year old dog already ran away last night because of fireworks. They haven’t found him yet. :(

When I was in middle school, one kid a grade lower than me blew off three of his fingers with a fire cracker. He was from a family of all boys, and they were all jerks.

I live in Southern California which is essentially made of kindling and people still light off illegal fireworks for weeks and weeks. Intolerable noise, neighbors drunk on Natty Ice, sad pets, and massive fires all in the name of patriotism def make 4th of July the worst holiday. 

I’ve enjoyed fireworks, but likely won’t shoot any off or go watch them this year. It wouldn’t be for the men or babies or pets or veterans... it will be the same reason I don’t do lots of things: too lazy. Like I’ve seen them enough. I’m over it. But now that I’ve read this I can pretend I’m doing it for some moral…

Uh, even with interest and inflation, what kind of parking infractions are only $20?! Not curbing your tires? Maybe it’s an LA thing that our tickets are so expensive.

It’ll definitely be tougher. They can’t start blaming Asian American students directly without messing with the current litigation over Harvard, so we probably won’t see them being scapegoated (again!) until a few years into the future. I suspect they’ll move onto some or all of the following groups:

Yeah, Spacey is screwed. I always side with assault victims anyway, but I can’t see any way that his defense team can spin this. Guy Pearce has absolutely nothing to gain from this - he’s a well respected, talented actor who seems like a nice guy. F him and Weinstein.

Dershowitz has no moral center. He thinks the law is just a battle of wits between opposing attorneys. There is no right or wrong to him and it is all just a game.

That would require that the Democrats stand up for themselves and actually play politics.

I think Dems should take a different approach, one guaranteed to outrage Trump, Republicans and RW media.  They should claim that they don’t think Trump should seat a justice until the Mueller investigation is over because Putin shouldn’t get to seat a SCOTUS Justice.
