@Craig Michael Ranapia: actually Canada does, atleast if you are a young offender with any history of sexual assault - see my reply to scruffy above... if you follow the link you discover they not only make them watch porn, they also make them watch photos of naked children while a voiceover describes sexual

@djscruffy: Canada has its own implementation of testing with phallometric devices, except instead of consenting gay adults it reserves the cock measuring for adolescent boys:

@MrEvil: yes, and I've seen a number of movies where that distinction is not made.

@Duckbrain30: what size connector though? Micro, Mini or the type A standard? Personally, I think micro-usb is the best, but in a couple years maybe something better might come along and perhaps it won't be compatible...

@Eddard: I get a kick out of fictional stories where something "evolves at an increased rate"

As far as for athleticism, the few thousand elite athletes of the world will have insignificant affect on the billions of others from a genetic evolutionary standpoint. It is the "bulk" of the population that will determine the performance capacity of future humans.

@Brock_Lee: well, is it because that many more species really have fallen under the threat of extinction, or are there administrative and other factors that control the size of the list? (I'd guess some of both).

@cicadymn: I guess I was thinking it would take more of a Shakespearean script, rather than epic. Either way, a successful connect four movie franchise (two sequels and a prequel) could be a real step towards a Tetris movie.

To be technical, space is not a perfect vacuum, so there is a medium for sound to propogate in. However any sounds originating or travelling through a medium with such a low density would probably be below the normal sensitivity range of human hearing.

I went with the generic freedom-n-flexibility answer, not so much because my job description offers any flexibility, but because overall it allows me to balance all the factors in my life better than the other jobs I'd be qualified for.

@Zack_Stentz: I would love to see some sort of high-end action movie, but without going over the top on the one-upsmanship you are talking about. Just normal people in exceptional circumstance, no glitz, not shitloads of guns, no superhuman strength, just a good, unique story of actual people with the will to survive

First, I'd have to say that the 1978 Superman "broke" the mold - ie the mold that was the action genre of its day and forged the new mold that these suggestions all broke free from.

@PossibleCabbage: yes, good point - I suppose like the rest of mainstream society I often forget or ignore that distinction. However I do acknowledge and accept it so thank you for the clarification.

@Daumier: yep, to me cinnamon is an autumn smell, winter in general has its own scents and christmas is defined by the smell of pine needles - maybe that partially explains why not feeling the christmas spirit and artificial trees seem to coincide for me. I agree this is a very geographic-dependent study, and

@Slatz_Grobnik: that's what I was thinking - what if "being a jerk" is just my personality, whether or not I'm aware of it, seeking love shouldn't be a reason to threaten my io9 acct!

My Samsung Galaxy S came preloaded with Allshare and I've actually been using it the last couple evenings. It seems to work just great, can't find any reason to look for something different... I guess I've never expected to access media on my computer when away from home - if so I just sync it.

what about scenes where robots talk themselves into self-destructing?
