The next gen Ranger will still have some commonality with today’s Ranger (and, ironically, the 2020 Explorer). The 2020 Explorer, however, was completely new down to the last bolt in a way Ford hadn’t done since the 2000 Ford Focus launch (that didn’t end well either).

Not for nothing, the Bronco II is probably a closer relative to the new Bronco than the full size. Both come from Ranger underpinnings. It’s not the Bronco II’s fault its bloodline was rechristened as the Explorer, taking a couple hard turns from there (First in 2002, then again in 2011).
