Kevin Parker has some quote about the sweet spot of blending 80's-influenced melodies and top of 70's-style drumming which, I'd say, is a major appeal. Tame Impala is, at its core, classic rock revival, but the first two albums were very similar stylistically. Currents is the departure from that, and I'm excited to

One great thing about this album is the shorter songs scattered throughout the longer opuses (opi? opera?). And while John might think the reliance on synths overstays its welcome, I think it adds to a more layered, nuanced approach than we've seen with the first two TI albums. Currents is definitely an AOTY

rapunzel style

You sit across from a mother of a of an Israeli soldier that was killed and then make that joke. Or, Sean, you can sit across the border from a thousand plus Palestinians that were killed and make your assertions, pal.

Kurt Vile, anyone?
