Personally, I was shocked that Ramsay and Jon never fought Wun-on-Wun.

Seeing the Stark banner flying over Winterfell was so cathartic.

All I could think of was an Inside Out-type thing starring Davos and Tormund inside Stannis' head.

20. I typo'd, but it's fixed now.

So I think because I'm on the younger side, a lot of the deaths this year haven't hit me on a really personal level — Prince and Bowie always seemed like these larger-than-life, more than human icons, and their deaths felt more like Events than people passing.

I mean, there's also the fact that secularism was one of the founding principles of the country, which under Ataturk and co. basically used Islam as a kind of nationalist identity while simultaneously taking most of the religion-y bits out. So Turkey's a pretty exceptional case.

Adding to what @epicglottisuvularsuspects:disqus had to say, violence during Ramadan is actually considered to break your fast, so it's explicitly something that shouldn't be carried out. This isn't about the actual principles of Islam at all.

I like how you're making up rationalizations for these actual statistics in your head.
And no, banning more powerful weapons won't stop all crime. Obviously. But why the fuck not do it? When shit like this keeps happening, with no end in sight — why not make it harder for people to commit shootings like this?

Nope, haven't been under a rock. Where I HAVE been is Canada, where assault weapons are completely prohibited, and any other firearm requires a license and rigorous screening process.
Where the U.S. suffered ~9000 gun homicides in 2012, Canada suffered 170. Where the U.S has had 136 mass shootings just this year,

Let's say this guy doesn't have access to assault weapons. But, because God forbid we "take anyone's guns away", he still gets his hands on a handgun. He still decides to go shoot up a gay nightclub out of his own hateful bigotry.

I'm Canadian and American, and our American fuck-ups are a hell of a lot worse.

I normally don't get involved in this kind of thing, but since there's an explicit comparison between women's rights in the Qu'ran and the Bible being made, I feel like I should point out that women in the Qu'ran have the right to education, own property, and spiritual equality.

Yeah, this was pretty toothless. That said, I'm probably still going to watch this, because (as I mentioned before somewhere else) Tveit and Winstead are both #1 in my book. Also I feel like it has the potential to be quite funny?

Daveed's sleeves were ON POINT tonight.

It's hard to separate the ceremony itself from today's tragedy, and I think the community really paid tribute sincerely.

It can be two things, etc etc.

This is going to be another middling-to-decent show I watch just because of my massive crush on Aaron Tveit, isn't it?

Seconded. Cars has a really nice atmosphere to it, and you could see the passion that went into making the movie. (Can't say the same for Cars 2, although I think even that one isn't a horrendous movie so much as it is a horrendous letdown).

School of Rock is nothing special, but Brightman absolutely carries the show. Any other year, I'd love to see him recognized.

I know Colour Purple will probably win Revival, but I'm still holding out for Spring Awakening. Absolutely outstanding production (coming from someone who wasn't a huge fan of the original.
