I wonder if regular F-16s be converted into F-16XLs......

What made me think of it was some of those old airplance concepts out of popular mechanics/science. Where the wing actually had a top and a bottom section, and was made to be continuous (closed wing?)

Do you think the truss itself could be turned into an airfoil? Or would the additional stresses require it to be thicker, weigh more, and thereby defeat the purpose?

If they brought the Levorg STI over to the US, all would be forgiven.

I just wish they would have been honest about it. I feel like them telling us they only had enough money to develop one, and there were no plans for a hatch/wagon was somewhat disingenuous.

I wish I coud definitively say they cared, but they probably don’t. Subaru is literally printing money with their non-performance lineup, so I doubt they lose a second of sleep over the WRX/STI/BRZ.

It really depends. If it’s a nice car that does this, I usually don’t mind because I assume the owner has as much interest in keeping his car pristine as I do. If it’s a beater, I get a little more annoyed, only because it’s much harder to determine intent.

I’m not sure I believe that the hatch didn’t sell. At least around here, just going off of what I see, I would say half of all WRX’s and a lesser but still significant percentage of STI’s are hatches.

And a hatch! Don’t forget the hatch! We want our speed with utility/practicality!

I picked up one of those posters at the NY auto show, except it also has the Focus RS on it.

Up in the great frozen north, the AWD is nice. Not mandatory, mind you, but nice nonetheless.

I would agree with you, except that the first generation Honda Insight beat the Toyota Prius to the liftback design by 4 years.

It does make it easier to improve on something when someone else does all the initial legwork for you.

But onto the meat of the article, I don’t see a lot of reason for them to go bankrupt. Thanks to OPEC (and not so much the sanctions) Russia’s economy did take a hit, but it actually hurt most everybody else who drills oil as well, including the U.S. And there really is not much discord in Russia, politically anyway,

That may be Japan-only. If they were going to throw a 2.0L in there, I would think they would have done it already. I’m guessing the reason the STI is still rocking the EJ is because they need more time to prove out the FA25.

I miss my VR-4 dearly. I don’t think I’ll ever own a prettier car.

You don’t think they’ll hold the displacement steady at 2.5L with the new engine architecture? The FA is derived from the FB, and they already have a FB25 they could use as a starting point.

GM shouldn’t have to design a car to appeal to the lowest common denominator, in the same way that an education system shouldn’t revolve around the learning ability of the slowest student in the class. It is not feasible to literally idiot-proof everything, and when you own a car, the onus is on you to read the manual

Crazy timing, my boss was just looking at one of these. I’m trying to convince him that a lightly used Hyundai Genesis (sedan) is probably the better car if you’re not looking for outright speed.

Theoretically, they’re supposed to be transitioning to some kind of modular platform in the near future.
