Hamilton definitely would’ve made that corner on his own, there’s no question there.
Well, I guess it depends. Lewis *was* alongside almost completely on entry. Max just braked way later which made it look like Hamilton had no claim to the corner at all.
Your definition of “stealing” is very strange. Did Max “steal” victory in Imola by not getting passed by the field during his restart off? Did Max “steal” victory when Mercedes’ error in France gave him the lead? Did Perez “steal” victory when Lewis made a switch error in Baku? These are literally just circumstantial…
How is that stealing it?.. Didn’t Perez also get ordered to GTFO of Max’s way in France? Did Max steal victory there then?
I think it was Lewis’ fault, but it was a racing incident. Not in that it doesn’t deserve a penalty, it did, and he served it. But the implication from lunatics on forums that Lewis did it on purpose, or that it was a stupid and reckless move are insane. It was misjudged. Both committed to lines at braking that were…
Except its F1 and there are “spies”. Hell the Tifosi photograph stuff at Fiorano all the time. Staff flow between teams all the time. If you pull seriously sketchy shit like testing an engine in a car like that, firstly it’ll be highly unrepresentative, since PU-Car integration is a lot more crucial than years past.…
Except not really. They can’t run current cars on their track for development. They can only run 2 year old vehicles as homologated, they can’t “mule” them into modern vehicles, unless its for approved tire tests.
Remember, they’re buying the whole studio, not just the license. It’s entirely possible that the next release or two will be developed along the same vein and staffing group as it currently is going (who knows, possibly even with additional funding). Until EA has a particular plan for how they want to shake up the…
I do find it particularly silly the way the timing of the tweet is called out in EST, just to make him sound like some insane recluse tweeting in the middle of the night. The author is (I hope) smart enough to realize Musk is in the Bay Area, which is in PDT. At which point, tweeting at 11 PM is hardly strange. Lot of…
You can disagree with his views but you can’t belittle his achievements. Similar to Steve Jobs, Musk isn’t a perfect leader or businessman, but he has a way of casting a vision that inspires people, engineers, the doers, to follow him. Plus, in high stress times, he very much was on the front lines of Tesla’s trials.…
He tested (and crashed) a Superbike before IIRC. His form looks pretty good for someone who isn’t a MotoGP rider though.
I don’t recall any of the “Class B” teams (except maybe Renault, but...they’re Renault) claiming they were going to win the championships.
Run of championship doubles. Ferrari only won the double from 00-04. Not in 99. Merc have now won 12 titles in 6 years, whilst Ferrari did 11 in 6 years.
I could also argue that at that time, and this is something James Allison pointed out, Ferrari had by some margin the biggest team, budget, and political pull. The scale of competition wasn’t quite the same until a bit later when you had McLaren, Honda, and Toyota pouring in similar or greater budgets to win. Mercedes…
Not to nitpick, but Mercedes has actually sealed their 6th Championship Double, breaking Ferrari’s run of 5 years from 00-04. Bottas and Hamilton are the only guys left in contention for the driver’s championship, so Mercedes have sealed that as well, even though the actual winner hasn’t technically been determined…
It baffles me how many fucking idiots keep bringing up team orders as the apparent sole cause of Hamilton’s success. Out of the thousands of points he’s scored in his career, you realize that team orders probably got him at most a couple of dozen right? And his ultimate victory margins have overshadowed the gain from…
I did some back of the hand calcs a while back and Merc’s claimed 50% Thermal Efficiency in 2016 I think only amounted to ~820 bhp (made sense given their predicted power then including 160bhp MGU was about 980). So given the current fuel flow restriction (100kg/h), getting to 2000 hp is impossible.
Meh, all these horsepower predictions and claims are just showboating or sandbagging. Mercedes was rumored to have 1000hp as early as 2017 (or even 2016). Yet you still see articles every 6 months or so saying they have passed 1000hp.
I think he took pole by .006.
