Skyrim has a major feature that BOTW lacks: constant game-breaking bugs and save file corruption. Nintendo would do well to learn from the masters at Bethesda as such bugs provide a rich community of fans theory crafting all manner of justifications for why such bugs are unavoidable.

I generally ignore ALL “This character is ACTUALLY dead the whole time” fan theories. They’re universally terrible. Unless you’re playing a highly psychological game like Silent Hill, there’s no point considering it.

I rank loading screen exposition much lower. Environmental story telling is supreme, I agree. Myst really made me fall in love with that. Sure there’s lots of reading, but what really helped me figure out what was going on with the two brothers was all the messy rooms across the worlds.

I can see the attraction for this. I personally prefer one that works in an outlet all by itself without me needing an extra dongly bit, but good to have options.

I am interested in getting one of the quiet models of these, out of basic consideration for others.

Agreed. I think Nintendo is trying to position themselves so that they can copy the “Apple tax” model of overcharging for accessories. MS has been doing this too with their ridiculously expensive Surface keyboards.

Yes it only works in dock mode. The adapter plugs into the dock and then the dock plugs into the Switch. I haven’t tried using a USB A-to-C adapter to plug it directly into the Switch so I don’t know if Nintendo designed the OS to handle that. Beyond that, if you’re using it portably then having that adapter…

Fortunately Nintendo’s USB adapter has used USB since the Wii. For all their faults Nintendo adopted those cabling standards pretty quick. They also haven’t used proprietary memory card formats since the Gamecube.
