Seems to be used as more of the middle phase of adulthood, rather than a numerical midpoint - with a common range of 45 - 65. So, <18 (before adulthood), young adulthood, middle adulthood, old age (with no catchy adulthood name).

As a middle-aged white guy, all I have to say is... I’m ok with that.
