Feminist criticism is the one weirdly fixated on rape. To me, in fiction , its a non-issue.

Perhaps that is the story you want to write. Perhaps that will shape the personality or add some motivation behind the character being depicted. Will it be well written? Depends on the capacity of the writer, but that is to say of anything you write, really.

You may call it a stupid idea, but it is definitely safer to write a male character. Suppose, say, your story calls for a rape to happen to the main character. Imagine the outrage surrounding it if the character is a woman? Then, picture the MC it as a man. Which one do you think that will not have people grabbing
