I don't know where you're from, but in the majority of states, gay people can't get married. There's a big difference between a "supportive partner" and a "spouse".

I'm not suggesting we teach people what should/should not make them happy. I'm suggesting that marriage shouldn't be advertised as the be all/end all for everyone.
