I think that’s a huge hurdle for a lot of addicts. Owning up to all the terrible or embarrassing things you’ve done is fucking hard. I did a LOT of things I’m not proud of when I was drinking, and will likely struggle emotionally with the consequences for a very long time, but Jesus, I cannot imagine what demons…

I hear ya. It’s really disturbing how often politicians use the phrase “American values” as an exclusionary tactic. The irony is lost on them.
