Inuits did it and they thrived:
You realize nutritionally soy and meat are not bio-identical, and that unfermented soy products in a diet absent lots of iodine is murder on your thyroid?
As an anthropologist you should know that the statement isn’t true for all human populations, and that the diets that people thrive on are as much a function of genetic history as anything else.
Humanity contains multitudes including those whose diet primarily consisted of animal products
Or how about that we required companies to pay interns a minimum wage that would at least enable the poors among us to maybe have less glam instagram feeds but at least you could survive? ;)
Yep, most violate the rules. I had an internship that paid me .25 an hour over the standard minimum wage just to cover their ass.
Rehab didn’t stick. Or at least not immediately afterwards (it was Mary Kate) a friend of mine used to party with her back in the early aughts.
I’m American and i think those people are insane. When I do work during off hours (I have a day job and I freelance on the side but I’m in the process of transitioning exclusively to freelance work which means that I need to do work before/after my day job), I use an app that waits to send emails until business hours.…
And this is why unsustainable patterns like this and put low income people at a disadvantage because they cannot afford to work for free. In many cases low income students are actually working and sending money back home, or they’re working over the summer to at least offset some of the costs of tuition dollars in the…
While I’m really glad that you enjoyed overworking, the kind of pattern you laid out is strongly correlated with a shortened lifespan and poor health. This kind of bragging/not bragging about unsustainable patterns of overwork is leading the US to a race to the bottom.
Working 10-hours shifts without any break is actually illegal. I don’t know what state OP was in, but at minimum s/he had one half hour break for every 8 hours on the job. S/he had legal recourse.
I may have already written this but college credit is not compensation since the intern pays for college credit (especially since these kinds of internships usually happen over the summer this is an additional cost of as much as 3-5k). If the student is doing menial tasks and isn’t actually getting any formal…
You can, if as the suit alleges, you’re denied breaks to you know.. drink water.
I could not work the hours that iBanking requires without some kind of artificial stimulant. So on the one hand, yes, it’s the caffeine and adderall, on the other hand requiring 80-90 hours weeks, week after week is problematic.
Two things:
1. I’m assuming that you do this for a paycheck and not as an unpaid intern.
Just a quick note: Hollywood’s audience is not domestic anymore (if we’re talking about blockbusters). A lot of movies tank in the US but make their money back overseas. It’s why Transformer Age of Extinction was partially set in China, Why Iron Man 3 has an alternate ending, and why there’s talk of a Pacific Rim…
This is and isn’t true. I’ve said this before, but while my friends who moved to NYC have a harder time finding a guy, my friends who grew up here didn’t. Most of the women I grew up with in the city are married or in long term “grown” up relationships b/c they don’t believe in marriage.
Yes, if you’re paler and you coat yourself in sunscreen you’ll look younger.
