The band Waxahatchee is based on the Waxahatchee creek in Alabama, where the Crutchfields grew up. From hearing her say it live, I believe it's pronounced in the first of the two ways you described.

It's like rain on your Inauguration Day.

I emailed some of those electors as a plea to reconsider, and what I got back was basically "Go Trump! Now excuse me while I go hunting, liberals!"

People have long been saying that the electoral college is outdated and needs to go, but up until December I had held out that it existed exactly for situations like the one we found ourselves in. But the fact that it not only failed to safeguard against this disaster, but was arguably a key factor that allowed it

I like Holding On, but definitely listen to Thinking of a Place (it was released as a single for record store day but will be on the album as well) - that one totally blew me away

The War on Drugs - Thinking of a Place. I'm seriously going to wear it out by the time the album comes, but it's so good I just can't stop.

I've had the same experience with them. I used to really like them, and then one day someone was like "but they're so cheesy!", and I realized I completely agreed

Exile in Guyville will never get old for me. I started listening to it about 4 years ago and have never really stopped.

Thinking of a Place does things to me in a way no other song has this year.

That's awesome! She's been on my radar since about 2009, but I didn't love the album before this (despite being really excited to see Joanna Newsom on it). I'll give it a listen, thanks!

Didn't realize Thao had something new out - I'll have to listen!

Also probably a smart idea to make this list before The War on Drugs album drops and blows everything else out of the water

Oh and Girlpool.

Crack up takes a while to sink in but it's worth the effort!

Some good choices here - Feist, Mount Eerie, and Priests in particular. I still maintain that the Fleet Foxes album is much better than it's been given credit for and deserves to be here as well.

Wow, that's a scary thought for if and when our SNES finally wears out. Didn't they make a GBA version of it a few years ago?

"It’s a quintessential ingredient in so many aspects of food"

Agreed. I watched both this year, and while Breaking Bad was gripping and well-made, Enlightened has stayed with me much more - so much so that I've gone back and rewatched most of the episodes.

Not sure if it's already been announced which episode Julia Louis Dreyfus will be submitting for the Emmys, but this episode almost felt like it was built for that. It gave her the chance to play the same character through several ages and emotional states, and I think she had the opportunity to show more range here
