I don't get why we (or anyone) should root for Erin to win Andy over Jessica when Jessica seems like a much more normal, mature and level-headed woman.

Hm what if the story asks for a particular age difference? As an extreme example, at 22 she would have probably been too old to play Lolita even though the actor counterpart would have been middle-aged.

I hated this episode. It was never established that Erin had a reason to hate Angela or to react anywhere close to the way she did. It was also a strong sign of shark-jumping how she went from naive to plain cartoonish.
