If I make an analogy, are you saying that if this wasn't a movie and this was real and you were actually in middle earth watching this happen in real life, you wouldn't like it because its too real!?

Its worth it. I hope every movie moves towards this. Sure, its different at first, but so was "HD" when it first took over and now, I literally will not watch sports if its not in HD. True 48fps is NOTHING like the synthetic effect that 120 hz TVs add to movies.

Close the comments, we have the winner.

YAY! I cannot wait for someone to record at 1080p, forget they are doing it and within minutes eat through their entire month's data cap. Yippee Hurray!

Yep. Google advertises to the content you request. Content that you specifically and knowingly ask for. Same with TV commercials. Content based.

Zing!

The facebook/google analogy is COMPLETELY off. They are advertising to you based on the content you request, which is EXACTLY what is being done with TV already. Example: you are watching football, you get beer/car commercials. You google "football" you get ads based on football (like, say beer/cars). Same thing.

FAIL!

Thank you. Well said.

THANK YOU. So tired of people saying that men and women are exactly the same. They aren't! Why can't we celebrate our differences, instead of pretending they don't exist. Wonderful post.

Yep, you are right. Sports shouldn't be separated. Thats why women hold the record in the 100m, 200m, 400m, 1500m, javelin throw, discus throw, high jump, marathon... oh wait... they don't. Men and women's bodies are not the same (obviously) so there is no reason to pretend they are. Instead of bitching about it,

Meh, not sure about that. You buy T-mobile, you get all their problems too. And all these legacy infrastructure that would slow Google's ability to grow out an advanced network.

Unfortunately, you are probably right about them being sued. Certainly nothing they are doing is even remotely anti-competitive, but the FCC is run by morons. To be honest, I'm not sure how Apple falls under the radar with their closed eco systems.

Whats the problem with Google doing it?

Actually, YOU get over yourself. When you buy the movie ticket you are subject to the movie theatre's rules. The rule is, no cell phone use during the movie. They explicitly tell you that at the beginning of every film. If you can't follow the rules because you have children, you can't attend.

Really? Are you really that snarky? I'd be very impressed if you've seen any other than the 1939 film.

Certainly makes sense to me. I'd prefer a "true" back story to the original movie, but I don't think we'll ever truly get that. The world of Oz has almost endless possibilities, which has the unfortunately side effect of many of those possibilities being awful stories.

Yea, of course, but still, would have been nice.

Word, I feel you. I was thinking of that scene in Kick-Ass when Hit-Girl kills all those people on live TV and that dude was like "omg, I think I'm in love" and his friend was like "dude, I think shes twelve" and he replies "I don't care, I'll save myself for her".

Yea, very confusing. I'm not sure why they aren't sticking with Elphaba and Nessarosa from the Wicked musical. Those seemed to work out just fine. And its certainly successful enough to now be part of the pop culture of these two characters.
