There was a time I tolerated, sometimes even liked, Bill Simmons, but I’ve kinda forgotten about him totally. Once he got the boot from ESPN/Grantland and started up his new vanity site (which is mostly garbage, in my opinion) he just kinda vanished from my sphere. I’m glad to see he still has the make believe

I miss the New Cult Canon. I miss the pre-content farm days of the AV Club.

I think we mostly agree here. Consumption of media (like this and Bill Maher, who’s even worse) is not a replacement for actual political activity. Sneering at the dumb Republicans while they take over every level of government has been, uh, counterproductive to say the least.

Haha, man I almost forgot about how Glenn Beck tried to re-brand as a woke liberal for like fifteen minutes. 2017 was a long year.

While I do find Samantha Bee and her show to be smug and condescending, if a basic cable talk show causes the Democrats to crater again in 2018 and/or 2020, they weren’t exactly on stable ground to begin with.

I agree, to a degree. United need to wait until Mourinho burns out, they snatch Poch away from Spurs, and then they should sign Pulisic.

Oh come on, Sam Hinkie is an empty Silicon Valley phrase personified.

It has a lot of funny bits and insight into how deranged Silicon Valley types can be, but the main plot is kinda stale.

It has developed a sort of Entourage, But With Nerds pattern. Just swap out “Vince got the part” with “Pied Piper got the funding.”

Ghost Protocol was a great movie that wouldn’t have worked without Cruise’s weirdo charisma.

I almost regret giving up on Dexter after hearing how batshit horrible the last season was. The Colin Hanks/Edward James Olmos season was enough for me.

I don’t regret it in the slightest. She tends to have really boring taste in movies, so I like to push her boundaries sometimes.

I watched Blue Velvet with my wife about a month ago and hate is not a strong enough word to describe her reaction to it.

Josh’s resolution about not watching TV you hate is a good one. This is the year I finally stop watching the Walking Dead. It has sucked ass for about 80% of its run, yet I keep watching.

The fact that another Maze Runner movie is coming out is almost comforting. It makes me nostalgic for the early aughts when every other movie was a post-apocalyptic young adult novel adaptation. Simpler times.

The Horse Troops movie looks absolutely revolting. I suppose Republicans buy movie tickets, too, but I want absolutely nothing to do with that propaganda nonsense.

I’m definitely gonna watch the movie where Tom Jane just wants his kid back.

My dream casting for True Detective was and still is Michael Shannon essentially playing his character from Nocturnal Animals over the course of a whole season.

I hadn’t really considered how heavily Adrian Paul’s Duncan MacLeod look influenced the fashion choices of a generation of nerds.

Shout out to one of the 12 other people on earth still familiar with Sexport.
