I’m almost done watching this season because I hate myself. It feels like it’s completely full of Christian music and it’s making me upset that they’re trying to make the rapist a sympathetic character. It’s been like a year in the shows timeline and they’re like “give him a chance, he’s a good kid”. That’s such a far

I don’t fault her for not cooking, but getting tripped up on a question about a favorite family meal seems really sad. Surely She knows what Barron likes to eat.

She’s not growing on me a bit, but this is still a totally bullshit question. She said she doesn’t cook, why not just drop it? Let’s stop asking women this irrelevant stuff just to make them seem more “relatable.

Eh, I don’t like to admit this but she’s growing on me. I don’t cook either; I don’t feel that sort of expectations should just be hoisted upon wives. And I get her genuine struggle to figure out an answer to Bolling’s gender role normative question.

The most depraved people are hardcore, gay-hating evangelicals. They hate themselves, they hate their humanity, they hate women’s sexuality. I have stories that I wish I didn’t know. The women are always punished severely for any indiscretion, the men are slapped on the wrist and told to pray more.

Thank you. I’d like to think the whole experience has made me more empathetic and more accepting. Which is pretty much the opposite of their intention.

I don’t know my number, either. It is probably between 10 and 20. Of course, the entire number thing is silly because how do you count things like that guy who went down on you but that was it because you didn’t have a condom?

Also, what they’re actually teaching here is that women have sexual power over men, and they should wield it by embracing modesty.

In a couple years, they start learning about the strength through submission bullshit.

If Average Anna had been given proper sex ed, she probably would have waited another couple years before having sex the first time, and she would have avoided that STD.

Oh yes. Guilt by association is heavily emphasized. Even if you are raped by a stranger it is still somehow your fault. These people tell the outside world they want to preserve their children’s innocence when it is they themselves that take it away.

Whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa WHOA. Nobody said burqa. Hahahahahaha, of course that’s not necessary.  That’s a heathen muslim garment. Jesus loves you and wants you to have greater freedoms than those terrorists. But just, like, one or two more freedoms. Don’t go crazy with the freedom, young lady.

BY age 27 anna has had 4-5 sexual partners? Bahahahaha

Yes. And even if you follow all these rules, if something does not go according to plan, then it must have been something you did. They cannot accept that sometimes bad things happen to women through no fault of their own. Oh no, you must have broken SOME rule and are a sinner and should be ashamed.

THE SOURCE OF POWER IS MODESTY

The marriage really did a number on her self esteem, from the sounds of it.

Yes, the belly and the navel are used in sexual play.  You know what else is--everything.  Lips, ears, neck, hands....  wearing a burqa won’t make men respect you.

Anna sounded fun until she got married.

I was subject to this trope for years. To say it has warped my psyche and held me back in self-development is an understatement. None of these “scriptural teachings” they drown you in are arguable to them, so if you don’t conform or agree to all of them, you are a devil-worshiping whore who is going straight to hell.

Me: Jesus Christ.
