Exactly— we’ve all been that girl :( she was just the poor unlucky one in the wrong place at the wrong time, with the wrong murdering psycho. I hope she is too.

Oh my God. Goosebumps. Supernatural ones are creepy, but this shit - this shit could happen to anyone. I’m thinking, how many times have I been that girl?
In that moment, I would have literally ripped that mans face off his body. It’s hard to describe that feeling til you feel it but i would have done and not thought twice. I’m not a large woman but I’m strong, and kinda crazy especially when cornered.
Thank you, yes it did! The depression was there a little bit longer than whatever that thing was but he recovered and hasn’t gotten sick again since. He got married a year and a half ago and he and my sister-in-law just welcomed a baby boy.
He does now. In our relationship I’m generally the more critical/suspicious person, and he’s the laid back guy who is everyone’s friend and tends to think the best of people.. So my slow-burning paranoia and his refusal to see it sorta played into those roles. But yeah he listens to me now about “tricky people.”
Your husband never should have doubted your instincts.
Aw thanks. I still think about calling up their parents all “So hey just a small question from 23 years ago...”
A couple of years ago, my husband and I were house hunting. I have a serious soft spot for old houses; the older the better. My dream was to find an old place that needed a little bit of love, but that had plenty of charm, and plenty of history.
As soon as I started reading your story, I knew who it was about. I used to work at the same company, but I didn’t know her.
Aaaaarghhhhh!!!!! Dolls freak me out so I’m glad your story didn’t involve them animating on their own...
When I was in my early twenties, my cousin called me in LA and told me I needed to come home immediately (NY) because they’d found cancer in my grandfather’s stomach. I was home within three days and he had already lost his vision and couldn’t eat. It was alarmingly fast.
I started babysitting at age 13 in the early 1990s. I freaked myself out so many times, just being young and into reading horror fiction, and staying at houses on the outskirts of the small town where there were fewer streetlights. So I have many overactive imagination stories, but this is one I still wonder about
I totally agree- the worst monsters are real! It was scary enough that it happened in the complex, but my stomach dropped when they showed the picture of the guard on tv.
Not the scariest, but it freaked me the fuck out when it happened. I live in a big apartment building, with about 20 units on each floor. I’ve been there for a while, so I at least recognize most of the people who live on my floor, aside from the occasional airbnb guests.
This will probably get buried, but this thread is the BEST and I’ve always wanted to contribute! I grew up in a very spooky old town with roots that go back to early Colonial days, so I have lots of creepy stories from my childhood and young adulthood. Here’s one that I call “Baby Dolls.”
When my older brother (let’s call him Rafael) and I were in college, my mom and dad moved out of our childhood home and into a much nicer house in a city about 30 miles away. Both my brother and I ended up going to school locally, so I would come visit some weekends but my brother moved back home after he got sick…
In July 2015, I went out drinking downtown with my friends and boyfriend. At the end of the night, one of my girlfriends walked back to my boyfriend’s apartment with us. We were arguing about Shark Week (typical) and laughing loudly when we heard a knock at the door. My boyfriend opened the door to find the building’s…
When I was little, my mom would tell the story of how an angel visited her once while she was pregnant with me. It flew threw the window, perched on the edge of her bed, and then flew back through the open window. Obviously, as a small child in a devoutly Christian home, I was always slightly smug about this story. My…
I watch the odd ghost/paranormal show thought I would instantly get the ever-loving fuck out of anywhere if I had a whiff of a ghost or entity. Real life is different. We moved in to our 100-year-old house two years ago. I’ve had a few instances over the past 2 years that would have had my theoretical self…
Mine might be a little unconventional but here we go. I have to start with the history of the house I grew up in, which some people say is probably the creepiest part of my story. Warning, there is some graphic content. And sorry, it’s a bit long.
