I love the Picross series of games and this one allowed things to become fresh and new once more. Almost completely changing the way that you play the game.

I've been going on the don't buy anything new until you finish at least 1 game currently in the backlog philosophy.

Second the cancelled face mapping from the original version.

How about the hidden cheese system that they later canned, but left the cheese in there anyway.

Was a winner ever announced for this?

@Stymie99: Picture in picture is definitely handy on TVs these days, compared to the old tiny box in the corner on the old ones that supported it.

38 lines, fun twist on the game for sure.

I usually try the same task a few times if it's obvious but difficult to actually carry out. Otherwise I'll try approaching it from different angles.

One of my favourite NES games and VERY difficult (Blaster Master).
