Totally agree.
Totally agree.
Thank you! there’s an upper limit to the fuel economy an engine that burns fuel can get in one of these. And well, that limit is so low that even a big V8 is efficient enough to max it out.
> engine for barely any benefit
Fuel per distance (liters/100km) instead of distance per fuel (MPG) means you get a more practical measure that doesn’t get wonky at extreme values (5 more MPG means a LOT more when you’re at 10 MPG than when you’re at 40 MPG.)
That etorque does nothing to save gas millage. It just there to help the start/stop crap work smoother.
Big benefit - I assume that like the Ecoboost it has WAY more grunt down low than the V8 has. And an I6 should be rather smoother.
2mpg is actually quite a bit at those numbers. MPG is a lousy way to compare fuel efficiency.
Not true. The recent third-generation “HEMI” family has absolutely no relation to the HEMI engines of yore, and doesn’t even have hemispherical combustion chambers, anymore. It was a clean-sheet redesign in 2003.
I love the 5.0. I’ve rented two recent F-150s in the past year, and both had the 5.0. It’s a peach. The 10-speed is a little dimwitted, though; GM’s version is a lot better.
Maybe it’s got more to do with the fact that these engines are tasked with providing even more power, and having to haul around a minimum of 5000 lbs. Whatd’ya expect?
Yep, it was all about giving a little more power and meeting emissions targets. Remember kids fuel economy is not emissions, they can be related but not the same. I am sure because of all the fancy control strategies and aggressive EGR being implemented in the turbo 6 that the actual tailpipe number for co2 and nox are…
It always shocks me how many people STILL think the ecoboost F150's are more efficient.
Exhaust manifolds? That’s cute. Since 2011, any new (Pentastar/GME/etc) Chrysler engine has integrated exhaust manifolds: cats or turbo’s bolt up to the block instead.
I guess this isn’t a surprise since the same is true for the Ford turbo V6 vs V8:
To be fair, have you been to a Kia dealer before?
Funny, I find the Caddy to be much better looking than the Kia.
Afraid not. The outgoing generation is 79.9-inches wide. This new one is 92.5-inches with the mirrors extended. Even with the mirrors folded, it’s still 8.4-inches wider than the last one.
I would like to know where you live where Kias are not absolutely bloody everywhere.
It is nice, but the issue with Kia’s designs is they really only work when spec’d a precise way. The majority of these will be finished in white, gray, or black, sitting on some odd mid-trim range wheels, and adorned in Harry Potter stickers or w/e.
Miata!!
