I’ve thought about submitting to “what car should I buy”; maybe I will. Ultimately though it does come down to how I feel in the car; which is why driving them is so important to me.

The SL never spoke to me, but I do like the AMG GT. I have a secondary list of cars that are my “let’s save some money” options; which includes the AMG GT, Jaguar F-Type R, AM Vantage, CPO Taycan, and several others.
That’s one that’s on my list, but unfortunately nobody in my area has had one available for test drive. I feel like if it’s going to be an ICE it needs to be something with an enjoyable engine. I’m actually a bit more tempted by the Boxster than the Cayman, but ultimately those two aren’t world apart.
It is definitely not going to be an SUV or a crossover.
I very much hope that I will be here in 30 years, otherwise this whole “retirement planning” thing has been for nothing. Haha.
Having driven a Taycan Turbo, I can honestly say that nobody needs that kind of power on a public road; especially not a teenager. Even if this was the base RWD car, it still has more than enough power to make it “not a good car for your teenager”.
True. A local GM dealer has had one sitting on the lot for months. I honestly think they aren’t actually interested in selling it and are keeping it around as a novelty.
Hey, who needs $1 million in 30 years when you can buy a car today for $150k. <shrug>
Thanks for sharing everyone. It makes the “bad financial decision” I’m about to make seem somewhat more palatable.
I don’t know… I feel like the R-35 has actually aged like milk. It was cool when it debuted, but now it does look dated; especially the interior. Add to that the price increases, and oh boy…. I can see why Nissan is only currently selling “limited special editions”.
Agreed. The SSR looked old from day 1. GM took the retro look a little bit too far with this one. There were other retro inspired models around the same time that did a much better job of playing up old design cues with a modern twist.
Ouch!
I don’t know… I feel like you can find one without a salvage title for not that much more than what this seller is asking.
There are occasionally some very interesting cars and good deals that pop up on C&B, but for the most part I agree that (for the newer or more exotic stuff at least) it seems to be mostly flippers and dealers. Recently I’ve noticed quite a few auctions that went RNM at prices that the vehicle should have sold for…
Local dealer seems to be offering $8.8k off on a 2023 Aviator Grand Touring, $14k off on a 2023 Navigator, and up to $7k off on a 2022 Corsair PHEV. Those are pretty good discounts, but they are still expensive cars.
Aviators had a lot of issues during the initial roll out. I think most, if not all of them, have been addressed now; but it didn’t leave a good impression with owners who paid $80k+ for one only to have a problem the same day they bought it.
APR is related to the “money factor” on the lease. Money factor tells you the financing charges associated with the lease. It’s similar to an interest rate, in that it is affected by an individual’s credit score. You multiply the money factor by 2,400 to get the APR equivalent. On any lease you want the lowest money…
I see this as the Lamborghini of pickup trucks
The current K5 does that too.
