I really love this deleted scene from Season 1's SHIELD Academy episode and am happy that this episode is more of less consistent with it, with Fitz and Simmons taking a little bit to hit it off (it starts at 2:45 if my link doesn’t start there).

The loss of this imprint will be palpably felt...until a year from now when another imprint will emerge, mysterious, seemingly lacking a past, looking exactly like the lost comic he loved so dearly.  He will pursue this new version, remake it into the Vertigo he remembered, before discovering the truth, and losing it

“Holy shit, look at this poor guy! Slashed to ribbons, blood everywhere, he’s gonna need an IV.”

I’ll take this opportunity to bring up how the ‘80s film gave us one of the greatest Siskel and Ebert reviews ever, with them both just having a blast laughing at the shitshow in front of them. I so wish we could see their thoughts on this one.

This really doesn’t pertain exactly to this posting but I was driving down Olympic Blvd. here in the City of Angels and listening to NPR as old people do and all of a sudden from the radio “Sharp Objects now eligible for all Emmy categories. AV CLUB calls it a masterpiece” and at that moment my Jeep Cherokee Classic

I used to work at the agency that created this. I know the Creative Director who sold this in very well. Much of what you said is true. Though sales were already in a spiral. They needed to do something radical to change it. Ultimately, the franchisees hated it, older people hated it and thus, the agency got fired.

Yeah. It was cool before Quiznos bought it. Thank the heavens they never got to Trogdor.

Dark Phoenix.

Went to see the newly re-opened Hall of Fossils at the Smithsonian Natural History museum. As far as I can tell, they don’t have any new fossils other than the new T. rex, but the evolutionary context in which they placed the exhibits was nice. Lots of early amphibians, and I do like large, carnivorous amphibians, so

Having limped into Guardians of the Galaxy, I’m now rethinking this whole MCU series run-through. I couldn’t hear half the movie b/c my kids were either arguing over the colors of infinity stones, asking me questions about a movie I’ve never seen, and my 7-year-old daughter seems to have burned out on them b/c the

I was watching a French show and the character takes out a game of Scrabble. I realized I had never even considered Scrabble in different languages and the logistics of how it could work. It does of course exist in many languages and even ones that don’t use the Roman alphabet. The rules get changed around a little and

Nothing major this week, but I fucking shotgunned all ten episodes of What We Do In The Shadows over two nights because I realized how much of a complete asshole I was being by not watching it this whole time. Holy crap, what a great show. The pilot, the Vampiric Council and the vampire orgy episodes deserve Emmys.

Haven’t been able to get to the movies because I’ve been working on a big project. Project’s done, so I went to see a bunch:

This was a really excellent week! The sun was shining but for one day, and even that day was a proper hot windy downpour that blew through the house and took with it six months of cold and gloom! What a difference just a rush of wind can make! Also, finally, lilacs everywhere!

‘November - a “more contemplative time,” in Kinberg’s words’.

Ha, I’m pleasantly surprised people still remember this.

Beady Eye music, mate.

So, reading that AV Club article ranking 20 episodes of Black Mirror, I realised I have this “Reasonable Discussions” comments section to thank for the multiple recommendations I got a while back to check out each episode that made the top 5, all of which I enjoyed.

Huff was the first thing I remember seeing him in, and I remember his performance, and Blythe Danner’s for that matter, as excellent. It was also the first thing I saw Paget Brewster in.
