She may be jarring, but she’s still pretty awesome. I love when she tells a john “You geek-looking fuck. Get away from me before I cut your fucking heart out,” while casing a joint and not even looking at him. She is also told she has “beady little ferret eyes,” which she uses to great effect once we know she’s a con a

Also that solace measure you’re looking for is probably a quantum.

I’ve come to love the ending of S3, SPOILERS: a bigger version of your own capitalist cutthroatery comes into town, takes and controls all you hold dear, and there’s nothing you can do about it.

Thanks for writing. Been reading your recaps since the first season when they were on your blog. “Sexposition” will be with us, always. (If writing that word is not an annoyance now.)

Scarlet Witch: Melisandre

It deserves no second chances.

The trailer was released on April 1st, and I keep thinking the whole thing was an April Fool’s prank. Like maybe they assembled the celebrities for one day to film it and benefit Omaze. My mileages vary on Jarmusch, whose movies can often seem too dry and empty on first viewing. On the other hand I often love them to

I think Gilly is in it to win it. Tormund and Sam and Ghost, also (with that farewell). They live, Salladhor Saan and Daario come in on the Millennium Falcon Perfumed Seneschal at the last moment and ballista Euron into splinters. Cersei escapes doing 360s on a rowboat, as Jaime says, “Great shot kid, one in a

That’s a good explanation. I thought they had planned CGI in tree stumps (to make the ballistas) and mountains and ran out of money

How is Jaime Brienne’s height?

I enjoyed this. I love Headey’s performance so much I wouldn’t be mad if Cersei ended up in a boat headed to the Summer Isles

It was a classic case of “Are they supposed to be able to hear each other?” syndrome. Missandei yelled Dracarys, Tyrion talked in a room level voice. Except for her yell they acted like the battlements were ten feet high and about twenty feet away from the main group. Also thought the closeups on the actors’ faces,

Out of context the spoilers for the rest of the season do not sound promising. But I could see them working in book form someday, if that happens.

I always think the problem with that scene is the bad composite effects, where you can’t tell originally what size Dinklage is supposed to be. On a rewatch two days ago I fastforwarded through most of the scene, but I have such affection for Dinklage I don’t care if his accents’ bad.

Steve Buscemi in Billy Madison

I feel the rules of the combat/bad guys only matter when Whedon wants them to. Vamps were as deadly as they needed to be for the plot. It didn’t make the deaths hurt less, but they felt sometimes arbitrary. (For example Larry the minor gay character who dies in S3, and Anya’s death. Likewise Angelus had many

The problem with the plot not having consequences is that you can feel the hand on the tiller when it suddenly does. (Regardless I forgive this sin when watching. See: Buffy.)

It’s below Celestial Seasonings on the spice rack.

This might be the right direction. I liked the Director’s Cut of Death Proof much better than the theatrical. It seemed to linger appropriately.

I agree with the article: she’ll make a hard choice and give up her obsession for the good of the realm, dying in the process. I have a hard time deciphering the writers’ intentions vs. execution now that the show is divorced from the books. But this seems to be what they’re going for.
