I’m curious, from your standpoint, are there any disadvantages to people allowing their data to be sold to third parties for research? Besides the obvious, that is giving rich giants like GS&K their data for free.

I’m pretty sure this part, as any other for that matter, has a part number and a name associated with that number which you can find in the parts catalogue (the likes of ETKA, which is a digital parts catalog for VAG cars). Parts catalogs come in many languages so you can find names officially translated.

If I think long enough about the meaning of the word ‘flying car’ I come to realization that helicopters are in fact flying cars. Just like penguins are swimming birds. They’re no more good at flying but they’re great swimmers. Helicopters are flying cars, they are no more great at driving but they fly pretty well.

I can see what you’re going for. I’d recommend slapping your balls between two bricks instead.
