What do you want me to say? Im sorry I don’t fit into the neat little box you were wanting to file me into. I’m thinking of all the other scandals that have been in the news in recent years and those are the only two that come to mind. Even the first Brian Singer lawsuit, after it was dismissed, there were too many

I am fascinated by the conservative shitstorm about AOC. And I agree, what it really boils down to is they are scared shitless by her political potential. And I’m not even particularly a fan of hers or think she’s the progressive messiah her fans seem to think she is, but I know a natural politician when I see one. She

Well, given that the only times in recent memory I’ve had doubts and reasons to believe the alleged victims weren’t telling the truth was with regard to “Jackie” at UVA and Jessie Smollett, you have to admit that’s some very selective “victim blaming” on my part wouldn’t you say?

Ok, apologies for mislabelling you politically. I take it back. You’re not far left but you do have the same black and white, absolutist attitude with regards to certain subjects, that is quite commonly found in progressive/far left circles, but feel free to correct me if I’m wrong.

I guess I have a less black and white view of things and I think it’s possible to formulate questions without victim blaming, or express certain doubts without being disrespectful. Like,  how is it awful to say, re: Smollett, that you have doubts but will wait for the police to confirm before forming a definitive

So you’re saying people questioning Jessie Smollett’s story before the police officially charged him are victim-blaming? They didn’t have direct proof either but people still felt the story didn’t add up. The same thing happened with “Jackie” and her story at UVA. Even before there was direct proof, something didn’t

Um, remember UVA and the treatment here of anyone who expressed doubts about that story? There was no tolerance at all of healthy skepticism, and that’s far from the only time I have seen that reaction. I really do think a lot of people held back from expressing their skepticism of Smollett’s story out of fear of

And that’s an excellent point.

I think the lawsuit is fucking ridiculous, and I hope it gets thrown out. But honestly, I think the whole incident has been blown out of proportion by everyone involved, to levels that defy logic. Yes, the kids were idiots, and offensive, and insulting in their gestures if not their words. But no one was hurt, except

Right. But it’s a straw man that progressives make it easy for rape apologists to use, by being dicks about it and calling anyone who expresses skepticism or asks questions a rape apologist or racist or victim blamer. Make it clear that ‘believe victims’ means ‘assume victims are telling the truth because

You’re right, that’s what ‘believe the victim’ is intended to mean. Should mean. But in practice, does it? Remember UVA and what happened to those of us who expressed skepticism of Jackie’s story? Or to those who said they didn’t think Smollett’s story sounded totally plausible?

Re: Warren and the DNA test, while I don’t think she’s an electable candidate for likeability and charisma reasons (Democrats need charismatic candidates more than Republicans do), I do think that endless discussions about the DNA test and her apologies are pointless and will never result in any kind of resolution of

I mean, not really. The idiot hired guys he knew, and they were caught buying rope and ski masks and stuff, on surveillance video. Anyone who’s watched a few seasons of Law & Order would have done a better job.

I agree it’s particularly shitty to do this kind of thing. I feel the same way about women who make up rape accusations. That said, there have always been cases like this, and false rape reports, but they have always represented the exception, not the rule. And that hasn’t stopped people who are determined to doubt

I think it’s fair to assume he did it, at this point. I also read that he tried to pass himself off as his brother in a DUI incident a while ago. Methinks Jussie has a complicated relationship with the truth and likes attention.

Yeah exactly. It just sounds like the mom taking over her kid’s project to prove to the whole world she’s the world’s best marketing executive and the best mom in the world and she’s going to prove it by pulling this shit. If they made a movie about this the mom would be Reese Witherspoon and she’d have a secret

Oh, Miley. I have a soft spot for this idiot, for some reason. I think she really does mean well, but she’s got ADD and she’s addicted to attention and I feel like she’d be one of those people who are lots of fun but after a few hours with them they won’t stop talking and moving around and all you want is a nice long

Sure, if you’re ok with never seeing another woman on a podium, except maybe jockeys.

Because this isn’t about physical characteristics such as wing span, but about biological sex versus gender. No one would let Phelps compete against women swimmers.

Wow, I would love to see Jezebel produce a similar article full of nuance and forgiving of imperfections, about any of the other democratic candidates besides Bernie. I love how you just brush off his crappy record on race and gender, when those are non negotiable when it comes to any other candidate. I love how when
