[“...I also wanted to give a voice to my character, who remains silent throughout the film. In her silence, she represents countless black women who have been and continue to be violated. Women without a voice, without power. Women in general. But black women in particular.”]

Kind of like Chelsea Clinton, whose dad did much worse than sexting.

well said.

Only one previous sexual encounter. No pattern, no real relationship and no basis to think her drunken stupor meant consent to multiple men having intercourse with her. Parker calls it a “3-way”—sheesh.

5 daughters AND a man of “deep faith” so heck, he must be sincere.

This happened only a few years after OJ established that white women are disposable. Fellow jock Nate Parker got the message.

Many great posts here and yours among the very best.

There are multiple messages for boys; most do the right thing. In 1996, none believed it was ok to rape unconscious women and invite in the dorm to partake. And then cite being a “man of faith” as Parker’s FB post did repeatedly.

The damning taped phone calls with the victim were not allowed in evidence, so he got off. (Not brought up by the Ebony interviewer, either.)
