Almost nobody gets royalties. It’s work-for-hire and salaried and you get paid for the work you do and, if you’re lucky, a bonus if the game sells a certain amount or gets a certain metacritic score.

I agree that this is a concern, but the Ruse situation is not a DRM thing. People who already own the game can still play it, it is just that the company is no longer selling the game to new buyers.

This isn’t really any different from, let’s say, an old PS2 online-able game that you can’t find in the shelves anymore and of which servers are long gone.
