Note to self: there appears to be a market for unicorn version of Uber...

Awesome. Certainly, as women of color, they will face some shit in the workplace, so I just hope that the shit they face will be a tolerable as possible. I would hope for no shit, but that seems like hoping for unicorn rides to work every morning.

I was asking this on behalf of my girlfriend and I said “he’ll probably say ‘like it’s spelled.’ or something” thank you for proving me right. :)

Most of the things I do, I do on purpose.

Carefully.

People talking about what has happened to them is the most natural form of storytelling. I guarantee that you’ve done it 10 times already today.

I have not had a typical day since somewhere back in July of 2009.

I actually had a remarkably civilized discussion on this subject on Reddit a year ago, and I went into some detail on the subject. Too much to re-type here....

I’m not a big fan of suggesting people *should* read anything. If for no other reason than being pushed into anything sucks about 90% of the potential joy out of it.

Sorry for my generic avitar picture here, by the way. I’d update it to something better, but I’m hoping to get to as many questions as I can, and I’d prefer to spend my time giving answers rather than uploading photos....

Nah. It’s not really a reference to anything.

Hi Pat! Thanks for taking time from your busy schedule to do this! As a long time tabletop RPG player, I was happy to learn that you used The Kingkiller Chronicle’s world, Temerant, as a campaign for your friends. I know that you’re an avid fan of tabletop games and gaming in general. Given the success of the books

Add-on question (in case you read the replies, and I get more than one): I’ve started growing a beard. How long did it take you to grow yours?

Hello!

The Kingkiller Chronicle has been compared by several authors to Brandon Sanderson and Robert Jordan’s Wheel of Time. Curious if you have read the Wheel of Time series and your thoughts on it as a whole? Are there any authors you first drew inspiration from while writing The Name of the Wind?

Hi Pat,

Love your books, Pat! My favorite D&D character is based on Viari! You’ve mentioned before that you have a fascination with money and its value, similar to Tolkien with linguistics. Other authors have their own focuses on maps, weapons, horses, technology. What other real-world interests would you like to delve into

That’s the elephant in the room:) I support this question, but I’m sure it won’t be answered. The ideal scenario for me is that one day Pat announces: “The Door of Stone hits bookshelves tomorrow”. No hype, no waiting, only pure bliss:)

This might be delving into spoiler territory - but given how much your books have been combed over by nerds, have you been surprised at what people have caught (or just made up)? Or is there some bit of foreshadowing that you’re surprised more people haven’t latched onto?

Hi Patrick, I know you revise your books till you’re as happy with them as a tinker at market, but what is your biggest regret that you left in NotW or WMF?
