Carrot is the perfect embodiment of that theme. He is the rightful king of Ankh-Morpork, but he is perfectly content to be a Watchman.
The best thing this show has going for it beside some standout performances from Cavanagh and Martin is the fact that Grant Gustin already has better chemistry with every main character then Amell did with any character on Arrow until at least the second season.
I still have hope for Katie Cassidy. I enjoyed her as Ruby on Supernatural, and her upcoming transformation into Black Canary ought to take her closer to that type of character.
If that's the case, then the real 'fridging' of that character came when she rejoined the League of Assassins and everybody pretended that it was some kind of fun summer camp. At that point she ceased to serve any worthwhile purpose on this show, and killing her was the best way to move the story forward.
What is this 'taken out' of which you speak? This is a super hero show. The guy wasn't killed, just tied up. I would be very surprised if that's the last time we see him.
I dunno. I think that Alistair is being too harsh on this episode. For one thing, I thought that the formulaic Arrow part of the episode did a good job of showing the new teamwork of the Arrow squad, establishing the new normal for this show going forward. One thing (among many) that I'm looking forward to in this upcoming season is the Root-centric episode where it is revealed how all of these random events that she is visiting Shaw for are part of the Machine's grand plan to save the world. Or to get Root and Shaw in bed together. Same thing?
