Without having read any of the other Novella/Graphic Story nominations, my hot take is that 17776 should have won. 

I absolutely loved the first 2 books in this trilogy, breezed through both in just a few days. Yet it’s taking me weeks, months to get through a third of the last novel and I’m not even particularly interested in finishing it. I don’t know what it is.
